Pre-release installation
The release process for new updates to the Power BI Connector for Eduframe can take a couple of months. Due to needed functionality you might receive a custom connector file from our support team. In that case you can follow this documentation page to install this pre-release version of the Eduframe Power BI connector. If you are not installing a pre-release version, you can skip this page.
Install requirements
In order to using the custom connector, you need the following:
- A windows operating system
- The custom connector file called
Eduframe.mez
- Power BI Desktop
Installation steps
- Install Power BI Desktop using the link provided above.
- Navigate to:
C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors
. If this folder does not exist (eitherPower BI Desktop
orCustom Connectors
), just manually create the folder. - Paste
Eduframe.mez
in this folder. - (optional) Restart the Power BI Desktop client if you had the application open.
Security settings
After following the installation steps, you might not yet see the Eduframe connector in the list of connectors in Power BI Desktop. In that case we need to change the security settings to allow for third-party connectors.
- Open Power BI Desktop.
- Press File in the top left corner of the application window.
- Press Options and settings and immediately after press Options.
- Go to the Security tab and select (Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validation or warning.
- Press Ok.
That is it! You can now use the latest most up to date features of the Eduframe Power BI connector!
